  ZYFA is the musical testament of the almost two decades-long friendship between Jan
  Staels (guitars, bass, drums & percussion) & Anton Vanderhasselt (vocals, guitar,
  saxophone, keyboards & piano) and. Inspired by the likes of Sparklehorse, the Pixies and
  Andy Shauff, their “espèce de” sad tropical indie rock just sticks with you.
  
  Playing together since 2007 and based in Brussels since 2013, the band has seen
  musicians come and go without touching the heart of what ZYFA is: two guys being the best
  of friends and processing their ups & downs in life through music.
  
  In 2010 ZYFA released their first eponymous EP. Reviewers labeled them ‘Wilco on socks’
  and described their music as dynamic Americana-esque indie pop laced with unexpected
  musical twists and turns. A second EP ‘Violet but true’ followed in 2016.
  ZYFA’s music has since evolved from complex verse-chorus structures to more simple,
  melodic tunes. During the first lockdown Jan & Anton recorded their third EP 'someD' in their
  home studio in Schaarbeek. Hungry for more, the single 'Smoke You' was written, recorded
  and quickly picked up by Radio 1.
  
  'Smalltalk' is the first single of their latest EP, without decoration entitled 'Friends'. It is released on October 7th 2022 on Jan and Anton’s own label Janton Records.
  The duo recorded the songs at their home studio in Schaarbeek, in music center Volta
  (Brussels) and Bijloke (Ghent). On October 7th 2022, they played the EP live for the first time,
  with a 7-piece band in music center Volta, Brussels.
